PPG - Tri-Coats and Specialty Finishes for Waterborne Systems

Designed to update certified technicians on any new waterborne products and application techniques. Students receive product information that has been released during the prior 2-3 year period. Attendees refresh their basecoat application skills in addition to color blending techniques. Technicians recertify to the next level for which they are eligible upon successfully completing this program.

Collision center technicians and distributor technical representatives.
Prerequisite: PPG Waterborne Certification.

Course Objectives

  • Reference and be aware of recommended safety procedures.
  • Utilize all the color tools available for matching specialty finishes.
  • Learn and produce correct let down tool for Tri-coats.
  • Learn correct procedures for blending Tri-coats and participate in Tri-coat blending exercises.
  • Learn correct procedures for matching low gloss finishes and create low gloss selector.
  • Learn how to correctly use G shade undercoats when repairing and blending translucent colors.
