STRONGSVILLE, Ohio – April 17, 2012 – PPG Commercial Coatings has announced that Christopher Graniero, PPG commercial territory manager, was certified at the highest level of CIP certification as a NACE Certified Coating Inspector—Level 3 by NACE International in Houston.

Since 1983, the NACE CIP (Coating Inspector Program) has set the global standard for inspections in the protective coatings industry and is the world’s most recognized coating inspector certification program. More than 14,000 individuals have received coating inspector certification; only 1,500 individuals worldwide have mastered the rigors of the CIP to earn Level 3 certification. To reach this achievement, Chris successfully completed an intensive two-week training course culminating in a two-hour, oral peer-reviewed exam.

“This is quite a feat,” said Chris Pannent, director, commercial coatings, USCA. “Attaining NACE Level 3 certification can be an extremely daunting challenge. And when you realize there are only 1,500 people in the whole world to hold that status, then you can really appreciate what Chris Graniero has achieved.”

NACE International is a professional technical society dedicated to promoting public safety, protecting the environment, and reducing the economic impact of corrosion by advancing the knowledge of corrosion engineering and science. NACE has more than 29,000 members worldwide and offers technical training and certification programs, sponsors conferences, and produces industry standards and reports, publications, and software.

PPG’s Commercial Coatings group offers a full range of coating technologies for the commercial transportation and light industrial markets including polyurethanes, alkyds, epoxies, polyurea, waterborne, urethane, polysiloxane, pre-treatment chemicals, and powder coatings. PPG Commercial Coatings products are marketed under several brand names, including Delfleet® Evolution, Delfleet Essential®, Commercial Performance Coatings, and Amercoat®.

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio – April 3, 2012 – PPG Automotive Refinish has introduced Paint It, a fast and reliable Web-based application to help collision centers find the most current automotive color information for domestic and import vehicles. This innovative tool signals a new approach from PPG, making color identification and selection in the automotive refinish process easier and more accurate.

“Paint It is a departure from past methods for finding the right color for a given vehicle. It’s designed to be intuitive for auto industry professionals who typically use a variety of color identification tools,” said Mary Kimbro, PPG global color director. “Distributors, collision shop owners, paint technicians, and even hobbyists looking to identify a vehicle’s color can use this tool by simply going to the Paint It application and doing an easy search. Finding the right color is now straightforward and the refinish process is much simpler and faster.”

Paint It is accessible through www.ppgpaintit.com with no special software required for the application. Users can search for a vehicle’s color information by year, model, color family, finish effect, or usage. Digital representations of body and non-body colors are displayed onscreen to aid in the color visualization process, with images and data linked together for quick search results. The range of graphical views allow the user to sort and organize information with ease.

In addition to exterior colors, Paint It also identifies accent, interior, under-hood, wheel, and trim colors, allowing paint technicians to verify all the necessary color components at one time prior to beginning the repair. Once the correct color is identified, users are a click away from formula retrieval via the PPG Online Color Formulation tool.

According to Kimbro, early user response to Paint It has been positive. “Customers are telling us Paint It is very easy to use and extremely helpful,” she says. “Paint It proves finding accurate information quickly doesn’t have to be that hard.”

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio – April 3, 2012 – PPG announced it has partnered with Auto Claim Solutions, an Arlington, Texas-based, vehicle repair information company, to provide collision centers with an advanced integrated repair management system. The announcement was made jointly by PPG global color director Mary Kimbro and Auto Claim Solutions managing director Tim Hoover.

As a result of the partnership, collision centers choosing to integrate PPG’s PaintManager™ program with Auto Claim Solutions’ Repair Tracker Interactive™ body shop management system will now be able to increase their repair productivity and operate more efficiently.

PaintManager is PPG’s network solution that combines the accuracy and efficiency of computerized color mixing with comprehensive reporting and tracking features. And by incorporating PPG’s paint shop interface tool, ROCO, the sharing of critical information between the front office and the paint operation provides a more efficient workflow. Auto Claim Solutions’ Repair Tracker Interactive is an Internet-based application that provides direct data access and real-time communication between customers, repair facilities, and insurance companies. When paired, the two programs allow a seamless and accessible flow of critical data to monitor and manage body shop repair and paint procedures.

“This arrangement is part of our commitment to make certain PPG customers receive the most advanced applications to ensure improved paint operation performance,” said Kimbro. “We’re very pleased our companies worked together to integrate these innovative systems. We designed PaintManager for compatibility with any body shop management system, and Repair Tracker Interactive has proven to be an excellent match for it. Collision shops using the integrated system will benefit greatly from the improved workflow efficiency, materials management usage, and, ultimately, their financial performance.”

“Shops using Repair Tracker Interactive have found it to be an extremely user-friendly system while providing the functionality and flexibility expected of a collision management program,” said Hoover. “It’s been available for seven years with all the advanced functions shops want and need to improve their processes and add to their bottom line. Now, by linking it to PPG’s PaintManager, we’ve made it all that much more rewarding.”

Repair Tracker Interactive is currently in use in 140 locations in 12 states and in 55 locations in combination with PaintManager. These numbers are expected to increase rapidly as collision centers familiarize themselves with the programs’ benefits. One of the largest users of the integrated system is the Van Tuyl Group, an Irving, Texas, company with more than 70 automotive dealerships across the country.

“We have been using Repair Tracker Interactive exclusively in all of our 34 collision centers for over five years, and without a doubt it has given us the competitive advantage with our customers, insurance partners, and the extended business community,” said Darren Huggins, national collision director, Van Tuyl Group. “With the rising cost of materials, the PaintManager integration has become absolutely necessary for us to measure performance and maximize profitability.”

PaintManager and Repair Tracker Interactive are available now to collision centers across North America through PPG and Auto Claim Solutions.
