PPG Refinish Notification
Waterborne Products Cold Weather Shipping & Storage

November 23, 2021

As we approach the winter months, this is a reminder on PPG’s shipping and storage best practices for waterborne products.

When temperatures drop below freezing for extended periods of time, we will wrap the freezable portions of orders depending upon length of transit time, forecasted temperature ranges for the given shipping date, and overall outside temperature range for several days prior to the shipment. On routes where heated equipment is available, we may not wrap shipments depending on transit time and number of times the order will be transferred between terminals.

We strongly encourage all distributors to review your demand for waterborne products and items that cannot freeze so that you can order ahead of forecasted cold snaps and/or holidays.

LTL and parcel transportation is still impacted by the residual effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, so some delays may be experienced. Depending on your location and the truck line equipment deployed, we may not ship your order 1-2 days prior to the weekend or holidays. If you are concerned if/when something should be shipped, please call customer service, and we will do our best to provide exact information about the ship date and days expected in transit. With the transportation industry still in flux, shipping times may not be consistent. However, we will do what we can to ensure the timeliness of your shipment.

In addition to noting the cold weather shipping practices above, please make sure to follow the best practices for cold weather product storage outlined in our waterborne Product Stewardship Guides:

We truly appreciate your business. If you have any questions regarding cold-weather shipping, please contact our customer service team at 1-800-647-6050.
