Did you know there are some tips and tricks that can keep you cool when spraying EC530 En-V® Performance Clearcoat in hot and humid conditions?

With summer right around the corner, you can bet that things will be heating up in the body shops! EC530 application may change when the temperature and humidity begin to climb. Using the following tips will help painters beat this summer’s heat.

  • Heavy clearcoat films make it more difficult for solvents to escape. PPG recommends 2.0-2.5 mil dry film thickness for clearcoat. If you can stay within this range your final finish will look amazing.
  • While the normal bake cycle for EC530 does not require a purge, under hot and humid conditions consider delaying the start of the bake cycle by 2 to 3 minutes. These few extra minutes will allow solvents to escape.
  • Coming soon….. ECR98 Hot and Humid Reducer is specifically designed to open the application window under hot and humid conditions. This reducer should be considered whether you are in a Low VOC or National Rule area.

These tips will help keep you completely satisfied with your overall repair and you’ll stay cool during the hot and humid summer!
